Hollicher Mühle (Hollich Mill)
Wooden
windmill in the octagonal Dutch style, erected on a foundation made of

Niedermill
This
water-driven mill was first mentioned in 1532, but is certainly older,
since it formed an important element of the medieval city
fortifications together with the city walls, the moats and the ramparts.
It operated continuously as a grain mill until 1957.

Heimathaus Borghorst (Borghorst Folk House)
The city
quarter of Borghorst is over 1,000 years old, but only got its first
Town Hall in 1887. As can be seen from the sketches by the
Münster architect Northoff, the floor plan is reminiscent of
the Prussian eagle. The mayor resided in the west wing, while the post
office was accommodated in the east wing until 1903. Today, the house
is a lively home to the Borghaus Local History Society, while the
former grand hall - the 'Haugen Stuobben' - is the scene of
exhibitions, Low German readings and song recitals. The good old days
come to life again in the Borghorst house, with a corner shop, spinning
and weaving parlour, clogmaker's workshop, clockmaker's workshop,
threshing floor, apiary, tailor's workshop, classroom, cobbler's
workshop and village apothecary.

Stadtmuseum Steinfurt (Steinfurt City Museum)
The
Steinfurt City Museum shows just how interesting 'history' can be.
Various models demonstrate old construction and craft techniques.
Of particular note: the model of the Bagno park in 1793, covering an
area of almost six square metres. The 'Hohe Schule' - the very first
Westphalian university - is equally significant. The museum also deals
with the establishment and development of the city of 'Stenvorde', the
characteristics of the medieval city, the domestic life of the city's
burghers, religion and social welfare in the Middle Ages; monasteries,
orders and the Reformation in Steinfurt, medicine and health care, and
much more
.
